Weight Loss

Being a teenager is hard, but dealing with the social, emotional, and physical impacts of obesity, can make it even harder.

Our nation is experiencing a rise in serious health conditions among our children and teens due to obesity. More and more teens are being diagnosed with conditions like Type 2 diabetes (once considered "adult-onset"), metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD- a condition where fat builds up in the liver), polycystic ovarian syndrome (a hormonal disorder), and sleep apnea. But perhaps most concerning, is the negative impact that obesity has on their self-esteem, their confidence, and their adolescent experiences.

We know that obesity during childhood is influenced by genetic, epigenetic, societal, behavioral, and environmental factors. Among these, behavioral and environmental factors are modifiable during childhood, thus they have historically been the foundational focus for weight loss and weight management. But now, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and many other well-respected organizations actually recommend medication as a supplement to “health behavior and lifestyle treatment” for teens with obesity.

As we start on this journey with you, it is important to know that sustained weight loss takes more than just will power and medication, and for your teen to be successful, it will take the whole family making changes! From removing ultra-processed snack foods and controlling carbs intake, to providing lower-calorie snacks and increasing lean proteins in each meal, lifestyle changes need to start at home, and they need to be a family affair.

Here at At Your Doorstep Medical & Concierge Care, we are excited to work with you and your teen. By combining traditional methods of healthy eating and increased movement, with the exciting power of safe and effective medications, unlocking truly amazing weight loss is possible. Our clinically guided weight loss programs are designed to support your teen every step of the way—with compassion, strategy, science, and success!
