Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) FAQs

Low testosterone — also called low T — is more common than many men realize, especially after age 30. Common signs include persistent fatigue, reduced sex drive, difficulty building or maintaining muscle, increased abdominal fat, mood changes such as irritability or depression, brain fog, and disrupted sleep. If you are experiencing several of these symptoms, a simple blood test can confirm whether your testosterone levels are clinically low and whether TRT is right for you.
The initial TRT visit is $299 and lasts approximately 60 minutes. It includes a full consultation and symptom review, analysis of your current lab results, a customized treatment plan, a 90-day prescription (medication cost not included), and a new lab order to be completed 8 weeks into treatment. A one-time $50 enrollment fee applies for new patients. Follow-up visits are $175 for 30 minutes and include treatment review, lab follow-up, and a 3-month prescription renewal.
TRT can be delivered in several ways, and your provider will recommend the most appropriate method based on your labs, lifestyle, and preferences. Common delivery options include intramuscular or subcutaneous injections, topical gels or creams, and testosterone pellets. Each method has different absorption profiles, dosing frequency, and side effect considerations. Your Nurse Practitioner will walk you through all options so you can make an informed choice that fits your routine.
Many men begin noticing improvements in energy and mood within 2 to 4 weeks of starting TRT. Libido improvements often follow within 3 to 6 weeks. Changes in body composition — increased lean muscle and reduced body fat — typically become noticeable after 3 to 6 months of consistent treatment. Your provider will monitor your labs at the 8-week mark and adjust dosing as needed for safe, effective progress.
Yes. At Your Doorstep Medical provides TRT consultations and follow-up care as in-home visits across Phoenix, Arizona and throughout Utah, or via telemedicine. Our quarterly visit model is designed for men who want effective ongoing care without the inconvenience of frequent clinic trips. Lab work is ordered through your provider and completed at a facility near you. All prescription management is handled directly by your Nurse Practitioner.
TRT can suppress the body's natural testosterone production and may affect sperm count, which is an important consideration for men who are planning to father children. This is something your Nurse Practitioner will discuss openly during your initial consultation. In terms of lifestyle, patients typically see better outcomes when TRT is paired with consistent exercise, adequate sleep, and a balanced diet. Your provider will give you specific guidance as part of your personalized treatment plan.
